Dr. Fleck received a Bachelors in psychology and English from the University of Michigan. After graduation, she worked at the University of Chicago where she coordinated three grant-funded studies of depression. Following her work at the University of Chicago, Dr. Fleck studied at Duke University where she obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology. While at Duke, Dr. Fleck was trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) at the university's Cognitive Behavioral Research and Treatment Clinic. Her doctoral research focused on mindfulness-based treatments for psychopathology and she worked extensively with Duke Integrative Medicine in studying the cognitive and neurological effects of mindfulness meditation. Dr. Fleck completed her clinical residency at the VA Puget Sound where she treated individuals suffering from a range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, self-injury, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and personality disorders. Following her residency, Dr. Fleck accepted a clinical fellowship at the Evidence-Based Treatment Center of Seattle where she furthered her training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). As a fellow, Dr. Fleck was also trained intensively in evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders (e.g. generalized anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, and hoarding), and behavioral parent training.In her private practice Dr. Fleck works with a diverse client population, including adults and adolescents with mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, marital and relationship problems, chronic pain, suicidality, self-injury, personality disorders, and parenting issues. She has expertise in various evidence-based treatments for adults, adolescents, and couples and is committed to providing scientifically validated interventions to achieve measurable improvements in the problems her clients choose to address in therapy. In so doing, she aims to equip her clients with the skills and resources they require to effectively manage their emotions, relationships, and symptoms, while also guiding them through the process of finding peace in the chaos of everyday life. Dr. Fleck is a licensed psychologist in the states of Washington and California, and a member of the American Psychological Association (APA). In addition to her work in private practice, Dr. Fleck is actively involved in training and research initiatives - she is a clinical supervisor for DBT trainees through Dr. Marsha Linehans Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinic at the University of Washington, an Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University, and a Clinical Research Consultant for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System in collaboration with the National Center for PTSD. She is also a featured blogger for the Mountain View Voice where she posts frequently on topics related to her areas of expertise.
